The biggest challenge for a woman in a society where you have to be ashamed for what has happened to you, is to fight your impulse. I have done that, I have fought my impulses to make myself react. I have been groped during Prem Ratan Dhan Payo when we landed at Rajkot. I was travelling with Salman Sir and nobody realised, but there were around 2,000 people at the airport to see him. Despite the fact there was security, people got in and it was Anupam Kher who made sure I got into the car. It was crazy. As a female artiste, you know the feeling of being vulnerable in front of a crowd, which is why I connected with my character Anaarkali. You know that when we were shooting the Holi scene in Ranjhanaa, the production has put five boys from the AD team around us in that get-up, to protect us from the rest of the crowd.

Model-actress Sonika Singh Chauhan passed away after she met with a fatal road accident in Kolkata. She was accompanied by a popular Bengali actor Vikram Chatterjee who was driving the car. Vikram is seriously injured but Sonika was declared dead by the time she reached the hospital.
As per a leading daily, the accident took place in the wee hours of the morning. The car lost its control, hit a footpath memorial and spun till it hit a roadside shop. Vikram managed to come out of the car, but Sonika’s head crashed with full impact which led to her bleeding profusely from the head, ears and nose. She was taken to the Ruby Hospital but was declared dead at around 4:50 a.m,
Police suspected that Sonika might not have been wearing the seat belt which led to her fatal death. A doctor from the hospital stated, “Vikram was admitted with a lacerated injury on his scalp. It was repaired immediately. He is now undergoing treatment under a team of doctors comprising general, orthopedic and neurosurgeons and a general physician.”
A few locals mentioned about the incident saying, “The sound was deafening. We were forced out of our sleep. It was still dark outside and, when I peeped out of the window, I saw some people taking the occupants of the overturned car into another car.”
A FIR has been lodged against Vikram which includes IPC Sections 304A (causing death by negligence), 279 (rash driving), 338 (causing grievous hurt by an act endangering the life or personal safety of others) and 427 (mischief causing damage).
